Ingredients:

For the Apples:

 

2 medium-sized apples, sliced

25 g butter (1.5 tbsp)

15 g lemon juice (1 tbsp)

20 g sugar (2 tbsp)

For the Cake Batter:

 

2 eggs (room temperature)

130 g sugar (2/3 cup)

60 g yogurt (1/4 cup)

60 ml milk (room temperature) (1/4 cup)

60 ml sunflower oil (1/4 cup)

1 tsp vanilla extract

200 g flour (1 and 1/2 cups)

8 g baking powder (1 and 1/2 tsp)

Directions:

Prepare the Apples:

In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the apple slices, lemon juice, and sugar.

Cook until the apples are softened and slightly caramelized. Set aside to cool.

 

Prepare the Cake Batter:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs with sugar until light and fluffy.

Add yogurt, milk, sunflower oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.

 

Sift in the flour and baking powder, and gently fold until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.

Assemble the Cake:

Pour the batter into a greased 18 cm (7-inch) cake pan.

 

Arrange the cooked apple slices evenly on top of the batter.

Bake the Cake:

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

 

Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a serving plate.
