Tropical Mango Pineapple Smoothie
This vibrant and refreshing smoothie is packed with the sweet flavors of mango and pineapple, perfect for a taste of the tropics.
Yields: 1-2 servings Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup frozen mango chunks
- 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
- 1/2 – 3/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk (or your preferred milk, adjust for desired consistency)
- 1/2 ripe banana (optional, for extra creaminess and sweetness)
- 1-2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
- A squeeze of lime juice (optional, brightens the flavors)
- Ice (optional, if you prefer a thicker, colder smoothie)
For Garnish (Optional):
- Shredded coconut
- Fresh pineapple wedge
- Mint sprig
Instructions:
- Combine Ingredients: Add the frozen mango chunks, frozen pineapple chunks, coconut milk, optional banana, optional honey/maple syrup, and optional lime juice to a high-speed blender.
- Blend: Start blending on a low speed, gradually increasing to high. Use the tamper if your blender has one to push down the frozen fruit.
- Adjust Consistency: If the smoothie is too thick, add more coconut milk, 1-2 tablespoons at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. If it’s too thin, add a few ice cubes or a little more frozen fruit and blend again.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness or tartness as needed. Add more sweetener if desired, or a bit more lime juice for a tangier flavor.
- Pour and Serve: Pour the smoothie into glasses.
- Garnish (Optional): Sprinkle with shredded coconut, as shown in the image, or add a fresh pineapple wedge or mint sprig for an extra tropical touch.
- Enjoy Immediately: Serve and enjoy your refreshing tropical mango pineapple smoothie right away!
Tips and Variations:
- Fresh Fruit: While frozen fruit is ideal for a thick, cold smoothie, you can use fresh fruit. If using fresh fruit, you’ll likely need to add more ice to achieve a similar consistency.
- Protein Boost: Add a scoop of your favorite vanilla or unflavored protein powder for a more filling smoothie.
- Hidden Veggies: For an extra nutritional boost, try adding a handful of spinach or kale. You won’t taste it, but it will add nutrients!
- Ginger Kick: A small piece of fresh ginger can add a lovely warmth and zing to the smoothie.
- Yogurt for Creaminess: A scoop of plain Greek yogurt can make the smoothie even creamier and add a protein boost.
- Sweetness Control: Adjust the amount of sweetener based on the ripeness of your fruit and your personal preference.
- Batch Preparation: You can prepare the fruit ahead of time by portioning it into freezer bags, making it super easy to whip up a smoothie in the morning.
Enjoy your delicious and vibrant tropical treat!
