Spinach & Feta Cheese Puff Pastry Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

  • 200g (7 oz) fresh spinach (or 150g frozen, thawed & squeezed dry)

  • 150g (5 oz) feta cheese, crumbled

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 egg (for sealing + egg wash)

  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional, for flavor)

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • Sesame seeds or nigella seeds (for topping, optional)


‍ Directions:

  1. Prepare the Filling

    • Heat olive oil in a pan, sauté onion until soft.

    • Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

    • Stir in spinach and cook until wilted (if using fresh). Let cool slightly.

    • Mix with crumbled feta cheese, nutmeg, salt & pepper.

  2. Prepare the Pastry

    • Roll out puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.

    • Spread the spinach-feta mixture evenly over the pastry.

  3. Shape the Rolls

    • Roll up the pastry sheet tightly like a log.

    • Brush the edge with beaten egg to seal.

    • Slice into even rolls (about 1 inch thick).

  4. Bake

    • Place rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment.

    • Brush tops with beaten egg, sprinkle sesame or nigella seeds.

    • Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes, until golden and puffed.

  5. Serve

    • Enjoy warm as a snack, appetizer, or party treat!


Tip: You can add a little cream cheese for extra creaminess or chili flakes for a spicy kick.
