plain spaghetti noodles, with a lil melted butter & parmesan cheese

That’s a simple but super comforting dish!  Sometimes plain buttery parmesan spaghetti is all you need. Here’s a little recipe to make it perfectly balanced:

 Butter & Parmesan Spaghetti

Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 200 g (about 7 oz) plain spaghetti noodles
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (or more, to taste)
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: pinch of garlic powder or a drizzle of olive oil
  • Optional garnish: fresh parsley or basil

Instructions

1. Cook the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Add spaghetti and cook until al dente (usually 8–10 minutes, check package instructions).
  • Reserve about ½ cup pasta water, then drain.

2. Add Butter & Cheese

  • Return hot spaghetti to the pot.
  • Add butter and toss until melted and coating the noodles.
  • Sprinkle in Parmesan cheese while tossing, adding a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to create a light, silky coating.

3. Season & Serve

  • Add salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Garnish with extra Parmesan and fresh herbs, if desired.

Tips & Variations

  • Garlic Butter Version: Sauté 1–2 minced garlic cloves in the butter before tossing with pasta.
  • Lemony Twist: Add a squeeze of lemon juice and a little zest for freshness.
  • Spicy Kick: Sprinkle in red chili flakes.
  • Extra creamy: Add a splash of heavy cream or a spoon of cream cheese.
