Mango Strawberry Smoothie

This vibrant and refreshing smoothie is packed with the sweetness of mangoes and the tang of strawberries, making it a perfect healthy treat.

Yields: 1 serving Prep time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks (as seen in the left glass)
  • 1/2 – 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries (as seen in the left glass and on the right)
  • 1/2 ripe banana, sliced (a slice is visible on the left)
  • 1/2 to 1 cup liquid of choice (e.g., milk, almond milk, coconut water, or orange juice – this is not shown but is necessary for a smoothie)
  • Optional: Sweetener to taste (honey, maple syrup, or a date)
  • Optional: 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or protein powder for extra creaminess and protein

Equipment:

  • Blender

Instructions:

  1. Prepare your fruit: If using fresh mango and strawberries, you might want to freeze them for at least 30 minutes to an hour beforehand to achieve a thicker, colder smoothie. If using frozen fruit, proceed directly.
  2. Add to blender: Combine the frozen mango chunks, strawberries, and sliced banana in your blender.
  3. Add liquid: Pour in 1/2 cup of your chosen liquid. Start with less liquid and add more as needed to reach your desired consistency.
  4. Blend: Secure the lid on your blender and blend on high until smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, add more liquid, 1 tablespoon at a time, until it blends easily.
  5. Taste and adjust: Taste the smoothie and, if desired, add your preferred sweetener and blend again briefly.
  6. Serve: Pour the smoothie into a tall glass (similar to the one on the right in the image) and serve immediately.

Tips and Variations:

  • For a thicker smoothie: Use more frozen fruit and less liquid. You can also add a few ice cubes.
  • For a thinner smoothie: Add more liquid until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Boost the nutrition: Add a handful of spinach (you won’t taste it!), chia seeds, or flax seeds for extra nutrients.
  • Make it tropical: Add a splash of pineapple juice or a few chunks of pineapple.
  • Make it dairy-free: Use plant-based milk like almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk.
  • Make it creamier: Add a spoonful of Greek yogurt or a quarter of an avocado.

Enjoy your homemade Mango Strawberry Smoothie!
