Healthy Homemade Blueberry Chia Seed Jam (No Added Sugar)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups / 300g blueberries (fresh or frozen)

  • 3 tbsp / 36g chia seeds

  • ¼ cup / 60ml water

  • 1 tbsp / 15ml lemon juice

  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon or a drop of vanilla extract

‍ Directions:

  1. Cook the Blueberries

    • In a medium saucepan, combine blueberries, water, and lemon juice.

    • Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries burst and release their juices.

    • Mash some of the berries with a fork for your preferred texture.

  2. Add Chia Seeds

    • Remove the saucepan from the heat.

    • Stir in chia seeds (plus cinnamon or vanilla, if using).

    • Mix well.

  3. Thicken the Jam

    • Let the mixture sit for 15–20 minutes, stirring a couple of times.

    • The jam will thicken as the chia seeds gel and will continue to firm up as it cools.

  4. Taste & Adjust

    • If your blueberries are very tart, add a touch of stevia or monk fruit sweetener (optional).

  5. Store

    • Once cooled, transfer to a clean jar with a tight-fitting lid.

    • Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
