Fresh Carrot Juice Recipe
Method 1: Using a Juicer (Best for Purity)
This method yields the clearest, smoothest, and most concentrated juice.
Ingredients
-
- Carrots: 1 lb (about 6-8 medium carrots), scrubbed and trimmed.
- Optional Flavor Enhancers:
- Apple: 1 medium, quartered (adds sweetness).
- Ginger: 1-inch knob, peeled (adds a spicy kick).
- Lemon/Lime: 1/2, peeled (adds brightness).
Equipment
- Juicer (centrifugal or masticating)
- Cutting board and knife
Instructions
-
- Prep the Carrots: Scrub the carrots well under running water. Trim off the ends. If your juicer’s chute is narrow, you may need to cut the carrots into smaller, manageable pieces. Peeling is optional—most nutrients are close to the skin, but peel them if they are not organic or you prefer a smoother taste.
- Prep Add-ins: If using, cut the apple, peel the ginger, and peel the citrus (citrus rinds can make the juice bitter).
- Juice: Turn on the juicer and feed the carrots and any optional add-ins through the chute.
- Stir and Serve: Pour the fresh juice into a glass, stir lightly, and serve immediately for the best taste and nutritional value.
Method 2: Using a Blender (Best for Fiber & Accessibility)
This method creates a thicker juice/smoothie consistency as it retains all the fiber (pulp). You will need to strain it to get a thinner consistency.
Ingredients
-
- Carrots: 1 lb (about 6-8 medium carrots), scrubbed, trimmed, and roughly chopped.
- Water (or coconut water): 1/2 to 1 cup (needed to help the blender process).
- Optional Flavor Enhancers: Same as above (apple, ginger, lemon).
Equipment
- High-speed blender
- Nut milk bag or fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth
- Large bowl
Instructions
-
- Prep: Prepare the carrots and optional add-ins as described in Method 1 (chopping them into smaller pieces is crucial for the blender).
- Blend: Place the chopped carrots, add-ins, and 1/2 cup of water (or coconut water) into the blender. Start blending on a low speed, gradually increasing to high until the mixture is completely smooth. Add the remaining water if the mixture is too thick to blend.
-
- Strain (Optional): If you prefer a clear juice consistency (like the one pictured), place a nut milk bag or a cheesecloth-lined sieve over a large bowl.
- Extract Juice: Pour the blended carrot pulp into the bag/cloth. Gently squeeze (for the bag) or press (for the sieve) the mixture to extract all the liquid into the bowl.
- Serve: Discard the remaining pulp (or save it for baking/composting). Pour the strained juice into a glass and serve immediately.
