  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (360g)

  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)

  • 7g baker’s yeast (1 packet, about 2¼ tsp)

  • 5 tbsp sugar

  • 1 cup warm milk (240ml)

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ tsp salt

  • Oil (for frying)

  • Sugar or glaze (for coating)

‍ Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast

    • In a small bowl, mix warm milk, sugar (1 tbsp from the total), and yeast.

    • Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.

  2. Make the Dough

    • In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, remaining sugar, and butter.

    • Add the yeast mixture and the egg.

    • Mix until a soft dough forms.

  3. Knead

    • Transfer the dough to a floured surface.

    • Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. First Rise

    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours (until doubled in size).

  5. Shape the Doughnuts

    • Punch down the risen dough.

    • Roll out to about ½ inch thick.

    • Use a round cutter (or glass) and a small cutter for the center hole.

    • Place shaped doughnuts on a tray lined with parchment.

  6. Second Rise

    • Cover and let rest for 30 minutes until slightly puffy.

  7. Fry

    • Heat oil in a deep pan (about 170°C / 340°F).

    • Fry doughnuts in batches, 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown.

    • Drain on paper towels.

  8. Coat & Serve

    • While still warm, roll in sugar OR dip in glaze/chocolate.

    • Enjoy your soft and fluffy homemade doughnuts!
