Easy Chocolate Cake with Cocoa Frosting

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • ⅓ cup oil (vegetable or canola)

  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 tsp white vinegar

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

For the Frosting:

  • 3 tbsp milk

  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 3 tbsp butter, softened


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Prepare the batter

    • In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, sugar, oil, water, vinegar, and vanilla extract.

    • Beat until smooth and creamy.

  3. Bake the cake

    • Pour batter into a greased 9×9-inch cake pan.

    • Bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  4. Make the frosting

    • While the cake is baking, beat together milk, cocoa powder, honey, vanilla extract, butter, and powdered sugar until creamy and fluffy.

  5. Cool the cake

    • Remove cake from oven and let it cool on a wire rack completely.

  6. Frost and serve

    • Once cooled, spread frosting evenly over the cake.

    • Slice, serve, and enjoy!
