This vibrant and nutritious smoothie is packed with antioxidants, healthy fats, and natural sweetness. It’s perfect for a quick breakfast or a refreshing snack.
Yields: 1 serving Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup frozen dragon fruit (red or pink variety for the color)
- 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
- 1 ripe kiwi, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted
- 1 medium banana, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 to 1 cup liquid (water, coconut water, almond milk, or your preferred milk), adjust for desired consistency
Equipment:
- Blender
- Tall glass
Instructions:
- Prepare your ingredients: Ensure all fruits are peeled and sliced as indicated. Having them ready makes the blending process smooth.
- Layer into the blender: Add the ingredients to your blender in the following order. This helps with easier blending, especially with frozen fruits:
- Banana slices
- Avocado
- Kiwi slices
- Frozen raspberries
- Frozen dragon fruit
- Add liquid: Pour in 1/2 cup of your chosen liquid.
- Blend until smooth: Secure the lid on your blender and start blending on a low speed, gradually increasing to high. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, with no visible chunks of fruit.
- Adjust consistency: If the smoothie is too thick for your liking, add more liquid, a tablespoon at a time, and blend again until you reach your desired consistency.
- Serve immediately: Pour the smoothie into a tall glass and enjoy!
Tips & Variations:
- For a colder smoothie: Add a few ice cubes along with the other ingredients, especially if your fruits aren’t fully frozen or you prefer an extra chilled drink.
- Boost protein: Add a scoop of your favorite vanilla or unflavored protein powder.
- Add greens: A handful of spinach or kale can be blended in for added nutrients without significantly altering the taste.
- Sweetener (optional): If you prefer a sweeter smoothie, you can add a drizzle of honey, maple syrup, or a few dates, though the ripe fruits should provide plenty of natural sweetness.
- Other berries: Feel free to substitute or add other frozen berries like strawberries or blueberries.
- For a thicker smoothie bowl: Reduce the amount of liquid used. Pour into a bowl and top with granola, fresh fruit, or shredded coconut.
Enjoy your delicious and healthy homemade smoothie!
