Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

¼ cup granulated sugar

2 tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

½ tsp ground nutmeg (optional, for flavor)

¾ cup milk (whole or 2%)

1 large egg

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

1 tsp vanilla extract

Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)
For Coating:

½ cup granulated sugar (or powdered sugar)

1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions:
1. Heat the oil

Pour 2–3 inches of oil into a deep saucepan or pot.

Heat to 350°F (175°C) over medium heat. Use a thermometer for accuracy.
2. Mix the dry ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
3. Mix the wet ingredients

In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
4. Combine and form dough

Add wet mixture into dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

Dough should be soft but not runny (slightly sticky is fine).
5. Fry the donut holes

Using a small cookie scoop or two spoons, carefully drop tablespoon-sized portions of dough into hot oil.

Fry in batches, 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
6. Drain

Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel–lined plate to absorb excess oil.
7. Coat in sugar

While still warm, roll donut holes in granulated sugar, cinnamon sugar, or powdered sugar until evenly coated.
Tips & Variations:
✨ For glazed donut holes, whisk 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 tbsp milk and dip the fried donuts.
