Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients (Dough)
• 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
• 2 ¼ tsp (7g) instant yeast
• ½ cup (120ml) warm milk
• ½ cup (120ml) warm water
• ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
• 1 large egg
• ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
• 1 tsp salt
Filling
• ½ cup (100g) brown sugar
• 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 tsp ground cinnamon
• ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
• ½ cup (90g) mini chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
Glaze (optional)
• 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
• 2–3 tbsp milk
• ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
In a bowl, mix warm milk, warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5–7 minutes until foamy.
Add egg, butter, and salt. Gradually add flour and knead until soft, elastic dough forms (about 8 minutes). Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (1 hour).
Punch down dough and roll into a rectangle (about 12×16 inches). Spread softened butter over dough. Mix brown sugar, cocoa, and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly. Add chocolate chips.
Roll tightly from the long side into a log and slice into 12 rolls. Place in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes until puffy.
Bake at 175°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
For glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over warm rolls.
