Cheesy Focaccia in a Pan

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp instant yeast

  • ¾ cup (180ml) warm water

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (plus more for greasing & brushing)

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded, or a mix of mozzarella & cheddar)

  • Fresh rosemary or oregano (optional, for flavor)

  • A pinch of chili flakes (optional, for spice) ️


‍ Instructions:

  1. Make the Dough

    • In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

    • Add flour, salt, and 1 tbsp olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

    • Knead for 5–6 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  2. First Rise

    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  3. Prepare the Pan

    • Brush a non-stick pan (about 9–10 inches wide) with olive oil.

    • Transfer the dough to the pan and gently press it to spread evenly.

    • Cover and let rest for another 20 minutes.

  4. Add Cheese & Toppings

    • Make dimples in the dough with your fingertips.

    • Drizzle olive oil on top.

    • Sprinkle generously with shredded cheese.

    • Add rosemary, oregano, or chili flakes if desired.

  5. Cook on the Stove

    • Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low heat for about 15–18 minutes until the bottom is golden and crisp.

    • Carefully flip the focaccia, sprinkle some extra cheese on the other side, and cook for another 5–7 minutes.

  6. Serve

    • Brush with olive oil, slice into wedges, and enjoy hot and cheesy focaccia straight from the pan! ✨
