Total Time:
Prep: 20 minutes
Cook: 20–25 minutes
Total: ~45 minutes
Ingredients
For the Filling:
-
1 lb (450 g) ground beef or sausage
-
½ cup chopped onion
-
1 tbsp olive oil (if needed)
-
1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning or 1 tsp Italian seasoning (for pizza style)
-
½ cup salsa or pizza sauce (depending on theme)
-
1½ cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
-
Salt & black pepper, to taste
For the Dough:
-
2 cans crescent roll dough (8 oz each), or homemade crescent dough
-
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
-
1 tbsp dried herbs (basil, oregano, or parsley)
-
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional topping)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Filling
-
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onions until browned. Drain excess fat.
-
Stir in the taco seasoning and salsa (or pizza sauce) and simmer for 2–3 minutes until thickened.
-
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
-
Stir in the shredded cheese.
2. Preheat Oven
-
Preheat to 375°F (190°C).
-
Lightly grease a round pizza pan or pie dish.
3. Assemble the Crescent Ring
-
Open the crescent dough and separate into triangles.
-
Arrange them in a circle on the baking dish with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the points facing outward, forming a sun-like ring.
4. Fill the Ring
-
Spoon the cooled meat and cheese mixture evenly along the base of the dough ring (where it overlaps in the center).
-
Gently fold the pointed ends of the triangles over the filling and tuck them under the dough in the center.
-
This will form a stuffed ring with some filling peeking out.
5. Top and Bake
-
Brush the ring with beaten egg for shine.
-
Sprinkle with dried herbs, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese if using.
-
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked.
6. Cool & Serve
-
Let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
-
Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
-
Serve with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or marinara sauce on the side.
