Ingredients:

1f9c2 1/2 tsp baking soda
1f9c2 1/2 tsp salt
1f9c8 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1f36c 2 cups granulated sugar
1f95a 4 large eggs
1f95b 1 cup buttermilk
1f944 2 tsp vanilla extract
Buttercream Frosting:
1f9c8 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1f36c 4 cups powdered sugar
1f95b 2–3 tbsp milk or cream
1f944 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
1f525 Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
1f9c8 In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
1f95a Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
1f95b Mix in vanilla. Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk, starting and ending with flour.
1f944 Divide batter between pans, bake 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
Buttercream:
1f9c8 Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing well.
1f95b Add milk and vanilla, beat until light and fluffy.
