The Philly Cheesesteak is usually served on a toasted hoagie bun, however, we changed it up to make it into a casserole that tastes really great. Beef onions and cheese, and at a later time, peppers were added and that increased the flavor even more. There are many variations to this recipe now, and even this dish allows for variations to your liking.

The Baked Philly Cheesesteak Casserole is a favorite for many families. This can be made using thinly sliced sirloin steak, shredded leftover Roast Beef or keep the ground beef recipe. Either way you will enjoy the immense flavor of a Philly Cheesesteak.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What type of beef should I use?

That depends on you. Many people will make this casserole using leftover roast beef from dinner the night before. Others prefer to use ground beef in the casserole. Honestly, I prefer to cook the ground beef and then drain and add it to the casserole dish.

How do I store this casserole?

This dish can be cooled completely, wrapped tightly or placed into an airtight container. It will last in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

            Can I freeze this casserole?

I have not frozen any of this that has remained after dinner. With all the cheese topping, I am not sure that I would want to freeze this. The cheese may not have the same texture when it thaws.
