  • Homemade Canned Apple Pie Filling

    Homemade Canned Apple Pie Filling

Homemade Canned Apple Pie Filling ✨

Nothing beats the warm, comforting aroma of apple pie baking in the oven. But what if you could enjoy that sweet, cinnamon-spiced filling whenever you want? That’s where homemade canned apple pie filling comes in! With just a few ingredients, you can bottle up the taste of autumn, ready to use anytime you need a quick and delicious dessert fix. This recipe is perfect for preserving the flavors of fresh apples, so you can have pie filling on hand all year long.

    Ingredients:

    • 6 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 6-7 medium apples)
    • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 2 cups water
    • 1/2 cup lemon juice (fresh or bottled)

    Instructions:

    Step 1: Prepare the Apples

Start by peeling, coring, and slicing the apples into even pieces. For the best texture, try to cut the apples about 1/4-inch thick. As you slice them, toss the apples in lemon juice to prevent browning and to keep them looking fresh and vibrant.

    Step 2: Make the Syrup

In a large saucepan, combine the granulated sugarcornstarchcinnamonnutmeg, and salt. These dry ingredients will form the base of your syrup. Next, add in the water and whisk everything together until smooth. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring constantly. Once the syrup has thickened to a nice consistency, usually within 3-4 minutes, it’s time to add the apples.

    Step 3: Add the Apples

Stir the sliced apples into the thickened syrup. Continue to simmer the apple mixture for about 5 minutes, allowing the apples to soften slightly but still hold their shape. The syrup should coat the apples, creating a thick, sweet filling perfect for pies or other desserts.

    Step 4: Can the Filling

Now, it’s time to fill your jars! Start by sterilizing the canning jars in a hot water bath or by placing them in the oven on low heat to kill any bacteria. Once the jars are sterilized and hot, ladle the hot apple filling into the jars, leaving about 1/2-inch headspace at the top. This ensures that the jars seal properly. Wipe the rims of the jars clean to ensure a good seal, then top with the lids and screw on the rings.

    Step 5: Process the Jars

Place the filled jars in a large pot of boiling water, making sure the water covers the jars by at least an inch. Boil the jars for 20 minutes to process them. This step ensures that the filling is sealed safely and can be stored for long periods without spoiling.

    Step 6: Store and Use

Once the jars are processed, carefully remove them from the water and let them cool completely. You should hear a satisfying “pop” as the jars seal. Store the sealed jars in a cool, dark place for up to a year. When you’re ready to use your apple pie filling, simply open a jar and use it for pies, crisps, or as a sweet topping for pancakes, waffles, or ice cream!

    Prep Time: 15 minutes

    Cook Time: 25 minutes

    Total Time: 40 minutes

    Servings: Makes 3-4 pints

    Tips for Success:

    • Apple Variety: Choose a tart apple variety like Granny Smith or a blend of tart and sweet apples for the best flavor and texture. Avoid using apples that are too soft, as they may turn mushy during canning.
    • Adjust Sweetness: Depending on the sweetness of your apples, you can adjust the amount of sugar to your liking.
    • Canning Equipment: Make sure to use proper canning equipment to ensure safety. A water bath canner is a great tool for processing jars, and it will help preserve your apple pie filling for up to a year.

    Conclusion:

Homemade canned apple pie filling is a fantastic way to preserve the flavors of fresh apples. This simple recipe lets you enjoy that warm, comforting taste of apple pie any time you want, without the need for a whole pie-making process. Whether you’re using it for a quick dessert or gifting it to a friend, this apple pie filling will become a pantry staple in no time.

  • Milk Brioche: Soft, Fluffy, and Irresistible

Milk Brioche: Soft, Fluffy, and Irresistible

Milk Brioche: Soft, Fluffy, and Irresistible!

Milk brioche is a luxurious, soft bread that’s perfect for breakfast, snacks, or even a special treat. With its light and fluffy texture, it practically melts in your mouth. This recipe uses warm milk to create that ultra-soft, cloud-like brioche that is just waiting to be enjoyed. Whether you enjoy it plain, with a spread, or paired with your favorite toppings, milk brioche is bound to become a favorite in your baking repertoire.

    Ingredients:

    • 500ml (2 cups) warm milk
    • 7g (1 1/2 tsp) dry yeast
    • 100g (0.5 cup) brown sugar
    • 60ml (0.3 cup) oil
    • 1 tbsp vinegar
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 2 eggs
    • 750g (6 cups) all-purpose flour
    • 50g (0.2 cup) butter (softened)
    • For coating and finishing:
      • 1 egg yolk
      • 15ml (1 tbsp) milk
      • 20g sesame seeds

    Instructions:

    1. Activate the Yeast:
In a deep bowl, pour the warm milk (make sure it’s not too hot). Add the brown sugar and dry yeast, then stir until dissolved. Cover the bowl and let it stand for about 15 minutes. This allows the yeast to activate and begin working its magic.
    2. Prepare the Dough:
After the yeast has activated, add the oilvinegarsalt, and eggs into the bowl. Mix everything together well. Gradually add the flour and mix to form a sticky dough.
    3. Knead the Dough:
Once the dough starts coming together, begin kneading it. You’ll need to work it until it becomes smooth, though it will remain a little sticky. This process should take about 10 minutes.
Now, add the softened butter to the dough in cubes. Continue kneading until the butter is fully incorporated and the dough becomes smooth and elastic. The butter will add richness and help achieve the soft texture that brioche is known for.
    4. Let the Dough Rise:
Once the dough is kneaded, cover the bowl with a kitchen cloth or plastic wrap, and place it in a warm area. Allow the dough to rise for about 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size. This step is crucial for achieving that airy, light texture.
    5. Shape the Brioche:
After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 9 equal balls, each weighing about 170 grams. Roll them into smooth balls and arrange them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Leave some space between each ball to allow for expansion during baking.
    6. Second Rise:
Cover the tray with a kitchen cloth and let the dough balls rise for another 30 minutes. This final rise ensures the brioche will be light and fluffy once baked.
    7. Prepare the Egg Wash:
In a small bowl, beat together the egg yolk and milk to create an egg wash. Gently brush the tops of the brioche dough balls with this mixture. This will give the brioche a beautiful, golden finish once baked.
    8. Add Sesame Seeds:
Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the top of the dough balls, adding a bit of texture and flavor to the finished product.
    9. Bake the Brioche:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the baking tray in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the brioche is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. The aroma of baking brioche will fill your kitchen!
    10. Cool and Serve:
Once baked, remove the brioche from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving. These soft, fluffy brioche rolls are best enjoyed fresh, but they also freeze well if you want to save some for later!

    Serving Suggestions:

    • Enjoy your milk brioche with a smear of butter or jam for a delicious breakfast.
    • Slice and serve it with Nutella, chocolate spread, or honey for a sweet treat.
    • It also makes an excellent base for sandwiches or as a side with soups and stews.

    Tips for Success:

    • Warm milk is key: Too hot, and it can kill the yeast. Too cold, and the yeast won’t activate. Aim for a temperature of about 100°F (37°C).
    • If you don’t have sesame seeds, you can top the brioche with other seeds like poppy seeds or even just enjoy them plain.
    • If the dough feels too sticky, add a little more flour, but don’t overdo it. Brioche dough is meant to be soft and sticky, which contributes to its airy texture.

    Conclusion:

This Milk Brioche recipe will give you soft, pillowy bread that’s just like eating a cloud! The combination of milk, butter, and eggs creates a rich dough, and with the perfect rise time, you’ll achieve the fluffiest texture. Whether you eat it fresh out of the oven or toast it for breakfast, these brioches will surely become a staple in your home. Enjoy! ✨

Love and chocolate. That’s what Valentine’s Day is all about. Go beyond the boring box of store-bought chocolates and wow your valentine with spicy homemade truffles decorated with sprinkles, candies, sparkling disco dust and glimmering edible jewels. My go-to recipe for Spicy Brazilian Chocolate Truffles is extremely easy. The secret is constantly stirring the chocolate mixture over low heat until it becomes very thick. Make a batch for your sweetie and check out the step-by-step instructions below for decorating each of the truffles in my assortment.

    Ingredients

    Truffles:

    Decorations:

    Directions

    Special equipment:

A small paint brush, small paper mini cupcake or candy cups, a candy thermometer, optional

    1. Coat a large shallow pan with some of the butter. Bring the condensed milk, 1 tablespoon butter, the cocoa powder, cinnamon and cayenne, if using, to a boil in a large saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture pulls away from the sides of the pan and has the consistency of very thick frosting, 15 to 20 minutes. Pour the mixture into the greased pan; let cool completely and become firm, about 1 hour. (You can refrigerate it to speed up the process).
    2. Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Grease your hands with butter and shape the cooled truffle mixture into 1- to 2-inch balls and place on the wax paper.
    3. For the decorations: You can use melted or tempered chocolate to coat the truffles before decorating. Tempering is the key to shiny, smooth-looking chocolate that remains solid at room temperature.
    4. To melt the chocolate without tempering, put the pieces in the top of a double boiler or in a heatproof bowl set over, not in, a pot of simmering water and stir until melted.
    5. To temper the chocolate, melt about 2/3 of the chopped chocolate in the top of a double boiler or heatproof bowl that fits snugly over, not in, a saucepan of water. Make sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Bring the water to a simmer over medium-low heat, stirring constantly as the chocolate melts. Once the chocolate reaches 115 degrees F. on a candy thermometer, remove the bowl of melted chocolate from the double boiler and stir in the remaining chocolate to reduce the temperature. Keep stirring until the temperature reaches 85 degrees F., then pick out any chunks of unmelted chocolate. Put the chocolate back over the simmering water and stir until the temperature reaches 90 degrees. Keep the chocolate at 90 degrees F. while you decorate the truffles.
    6. Decorate each truffle ball as described below and return to the wax paper. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. Transfer to mini cupcake liners or paper candy cups and serve.

    Cook’s Note

Lump sugar, also called rock sugar, is available in most Asian markets. Quins are colorful edible shapes such as flowers and stars cut from sheets of tinted sugar. They are larger, flatter and crunchier than standard round sprinkles and are available at many cake decorating and craft stores, and on-line at Amazon and Bake it Pretty.

These meatballs can be pan-fried for a crispy exterior or baked for a lighter option, and they are best served warm with a side of dipping sauce or as part of a hearty meal.

    Full Recipe:
    Ingredients
    1200 g ground chicken
    300 g onion, finely chopped
    20 g fresh parsley, chopped
    20 g fresh dill, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    4 tbsp semolina (without heaping)
    1 large egg
    2 tsp salt (without heaping)
    ½ tsp ground black pepper
    ⅓ tsp red chili flakes
    1 tsp ground coriander
2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
Steps to Make Herbed Chicken Meatballs

In a large mixing bowl, add the ground chicken, chopped onion, parsley, dill, minced garlic, semolina, egg, salt, black pepper, chili flakes, and ground coriander.

    Option 2: Bake
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway through for even browning.

Tips for Making the Best Chicken Meatballs

Use Fresh Herbs: Fresh parsley and dill provide a burst of flavor and brightness, so don’t skip these if possible.
Test for Seasoning: Cook a small portion of the mixture to taste the seasoning. Adjust salt and spices as needed before forming all the meatballs.
Avoid Overcrowding the Pan: When pan-frying, give the meatballs enough space to brown evenly. Cook in batches if necessary.
Keep Size Consistent: Make sure all meatballs are about the same size to ensure even cooking.
    Storage Tips
In the Refrigerator: Store leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave before serving.
In the Freezer: These meatballs freeze well. Place them on a baking sheet in a single layer, freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months. Reheat directly from frozen in the oven.

Eggless Chuva Cake with only 2 ingredients

Who can resist an eggless cupcake that, in addition to being delicious, is made with only two ingredients and is still irresistibly dry?

If you are looking for an economical and easy to prepare solution, prepare yourself to discover the pleasure of tasting an eggless cake that melts in the mouth and conquers hearts.

    How to Make Eggless Cake

    INGREDIENTS
    700 g self-raising flour
    1 1/2 cup sugar
Water (enough to hold the dough together)
To finish (optional): mix the refined sugar with the ground cinnamon to coat the gnocchi after frying.

    METHOD OF PREPARATION

Start by mixing in a container 700 grams of wheat flour with the yeast and 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar.

Add water little by little until you get the desired consistency of the dough.

Remember that water is not counted as an ingredient, but as an adjustment to reach the ideal point.

It is important to note that this recipe does not use eggs, margarine or any type of fat in the dough.

The goal is to obtain a dry and tasty cake.

If the flour used does not contain yeast, add a spoonful of baking powder separately.

Once the dough is ready you can shape the gnocchi as you like.

Use a freezer bag or even spoons to shape the balls.

Heat the oil and, using kitchen scissors, cut the tip of the bag, letting the dough fall into the hot oil. The gnocchi fry automatically, turning themselves.

The recipe allows for versatility in modeling.

Try making cupcakes filled with banana, guava paste or add other ingredients of your choice.

If you like, add a mixture of sugar and cinnamon to finish.

    Important Tips:

The consistency of the dough must be firm, not liquid, to ensure dry gnocchi, unlike recipes that result in very greasy gnocchi.
If the flour chosen is raw, add a tablespoon of baking powder separately.
If you prefer, you can replace the water in the recipe with milk.
