Ingredients;
For the Sundae:
3 scoops of vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup hot fudge sauce (homemade or store-prepared)
Whipped cream
1 maraschino cherry or fresh cherry
For Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce:
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Directions:
Start by preparing the hot fudge sauce. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt.
Add the heavy cream and unsalted butter to the dry ingredients, stirring constantly. Heat over medium heat, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Continue to stir until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth (about 3-5 minutes).
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Set the sauce aside to cool slightly.
In a bowl or sundae glass, scoop 3 generous scoops of vanilla ice cream.
Pour the warm hot fudge sauce over the ice cream, allowing it to melt slightly and cascade down the sides.
Top the sundae with a swirl of whipped cream and finish with a cherry on top (maraschino or fresh).
