Soft Vanilla Milk Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour


‍ Directions:

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

  2. Add sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.

  3. Gradually add flour until dough forms.

  4. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.

  6. Punch down, shape into a loaf, and place in a greased loaf pan.

  7. Cover and rise again for 30 minutes.

  8. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 25–30 minutes, until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped.

  9. Cool, slice, and enjoy! Optional: brush with butter for a soft crust.


Tips:

  • Use warm, not hot milk to activate yeast.

  • Add vanilla sugar/extract for stronger vanilla flavor.

  • Top with sesame seeds, oats, or sugar crystals before baking.
