Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy
Ingredients
For the Patties:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Gravy:

- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Make the Patties:
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper.
- Mix until well combined, then form into 4 patties.
Cook the Patties:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.
- Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Make the Gravy:
- In the same skillet, add the butter and let it melt.
- Add the mushrooms and onion, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the flour and cook for another minute.
- Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Let the gravy simmer until it thickens, about 5 minutes.
Combine:
- Return the patties to the skillet and spoon the gravy over them.
- Let them simmer in the gravy for a few minutes to heat through.
Serve:
Serve the Salisbury steaks with mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite side dish, and enjoy!
