Pecan & Maple Swirl Bread with Cream Cheese Glaze
Ingredients:
For the Bread:
3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
1 packet (7 g) instant yeast
¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup (180 mL) warm milk
¼ cup (60 g) unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
For the Filling:
¼ cup (60 mL) pure maple syrup
⅓ cup (70 g) brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup (60 g) chopped pecans
For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
2 oz (60 g) cream cheese, softened
½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar
1 tablespoon (15 mL) maple syrup
1–2 tablespoons (15–30 mL) milk, as needed for consistency
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix and knead until a soft dough forms, about 8 minutes.
Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Roll out dough into a rectangle (about 10×15 inches / 25×38 cm). Brush with maple syrup, sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans evenly over the surface.
Roll tightly into a log and place in a greased loaf pan. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before glazing.
For the glaze, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and maple syrup together, thinning with milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm bread.
