Ingredient | Amount |
---|---|
Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) | 6–8, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced |
Granulated sugar | ½ cup |
All-purpose flour | 2 tablespoons |
Ground cinnamon | 1 teaspoon |
Ground nutmeg | ¼ teaspoon |
Lemon juice | 1 tablespoon |
Oat Crumble Topping
Ingredient | Amount |
---|---|
Old-fashioned rolled oats | 1 cup |
All-purpose flour | ½ cup |
Brown sugar (packed) | ½ cup |
Granulated sugar | ¼ cup |
Ground cinnamon | ½ teaspoon |
Cold unsalted butter (cubed) | ½ cup |
Directions
1. Preheat Oven
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
2. Prepare the Apple Layer
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until evenly coated. Spread the apple mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
3. Make the Crumble Topping
In a separate bowl, mix together oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Add in the cubed cold butter and use a pastry cutter (or your fingers) to work it into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Assemble & Bake
Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the apples are bubbling and tender.
5. Serve Warm
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.
