Homemade Honey Buttermilk Bread
Ingredients:
– 1 cup warm
buttermilk

– 1/4 cup warm water
– 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
– 1/4 cup honey

– 2 tbsp melted
butter

– 1 tsp salt
– 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Directions:
1. In a small bowl, combine the warm buttermilk, warm water, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
2. Mix in the honey, melted butter, and salt.
3. Gradually add in the flour, stirring until a dough forms.
4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let it rise again for another 30 minutes.
7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
8. Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
9. Let the bread cool before slicing and serving.
Tips:
– Make sure the buttermilk is warm but not too hot to avoid killing the yeast.
– You can brush the top of the loaf with melted butter after baking for a softer crust.
– Store the bread in an airtight container to keep it fresh longer.
