1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
2–3 tbsp chopped green onions, parsley, or chives
1¼ cups milk
1 large egg
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for brushing)

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
Mix dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together:
Flour
Baking powder
Salt
Garlic powder (if using)
Sugar
Add cheese and herbs:
Stir in shredded cheese and chopped herbs (green onions, parsley, or chives).
Mix wet ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together:
Milk
Egg
Melted butter
Combine wet and dry:
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir just until combined (don’t overmix).
Pour into pan:
Spread batter evenly in the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle extra cheese on top for a cheesy crust.
Bake:
Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.
Cool & serve:
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Brush with extra melted butter if desired.
