500g (1 lb) ground beef (or chicken/turkey)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup bell peppers (green, red, yellow), diced
1 cup tomato sauce (or pasta sauce)
1 tsp chili flakes (optional)
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp Italian seasoning (or oregano + basil)
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 cups cooked pasta (penne, macaroni, or any) OR tortillas for layering
2 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella + cheddar mix)
2 tbsp olive oil or butter
Fresh parsley or spring onion for garnish
‍ Instructions:
1. Cook the Beef Layer
Heat oil/butter in a skillet.
Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
Add ground beef, cook until browned.
Stir in bell peppers, seasonings, and tomato sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
2. Prepare the Base
If using pasta: mix the cooked pasta with the beef mixture.
If using tortillas: layer half of the beef mixture, then tortillas, then repeat.
3. Assemble the Casserole
Grease a baking dish.
Spread the beef-pasta (or beef-tortilla) mixture evenly.
Sprinkle generously with shredded mozzarella + cheddar cheese.
4. Bake
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until cheese is golden and bubbly.
5. Garnish & Serve
Sprinkle with chili flakes and fresh parsley/spring onion.
Cut into squares and serve hot.
