Caramel apple cinnamon roll cake
Ingredients:
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 tablespoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 cup milk
– 2 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 2 cups peeled and diced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
– 1/2 cup brown sugar
– 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
For the Caramel Sauce:
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
– 1/2 cup heavy cream
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter until light and fluffy. Add the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
5. In a separate bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon.
6. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Top with the apple mixture, then pour the remaining batter over the apples, smoothing it out.
7. Using a knife, swirl the batter to create a marbled effect.
8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
9. While the cake is baking, prepare the caramel sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar and butter. Stir until melted and golden brown.
10. Carefully add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
11. Once the cake is done, allow it to cool for a few minutes before drizzling the caramel sauce over the top.
12. Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy the delightful combination of caramel, apples, and cinnamon!
