Black Forest Tiramisu

Ingredients:
For the Tiramisu:
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
2 tablespoons cherry liqueur (optional)
24 ladyfinger cookies
1 cup cherries, pitted and halved
Shaved chocolate, for garnish
For the Cherry Sauce:
1 cup cherries, pitted and halved
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Directions:
Prepare the Tiramisu:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
Add the mascarpone cheese and beat until smooth and creamy.
In a shallow dish, mix the brewed coffee and cherry liqueur (if using). Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them for too long.
Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Top with half of the halved cherries.
Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of mascarpone mixture on top.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
Make the Cherry Sauce:
In a saucepan, combine the cherries, sugar, lemon juice, and water over medium heat.
Cook until the cherries are soft and the sugar has dissolved, about 5-7 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a tablespoon of water to create a slurry.
Stir the cornstarch slurry into the cherry mixture and cook until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool before serving.
Assemble and Serve:
Before serving, garnish the chilled tiramisu with shaved chocolate and drizzle with the cherry sauce.
Slice and serve chilled.
