AIR FRYER LATKES

AIR FRYER LATKES

Latkes are crispy and tasty! They are the best alternative to oil for baking latkes during Hanukkah.

INGREDIENTS FOR AIR FRYER LATKES

  1. Pare four russet potatoes of medium size.
  2. Just one tiny yellow onion
  3. Two large eggs
  4. two matzo meal tablespoons
  5. A solitary tsp of garlic powder
  6. A single tsp of kosher salt
  7. one-third teaspoon ground pepper

In order to provide service

  1. One tablespoon of just-cut chives
  2. 1/3 cup of sour cream
  3. 1/4 cup of applesauce

Guidelines:

  • Finely chop the potatoes and onion using a box grater with large holes or the grating blade in your food processor. After grating the potatoes, use a muslin towel to squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the grated potatoes, eggs, matzo meal, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Once everything is well combined, leave it for five minutes.
  • Adjust the temperature of the Air Fryer to 375°F.
  • Use frying spray or line the air fryer’s basket with parchment paper to make cleanup simpler. Flatten the potato mixture (1/4 cup per latke) into a patty with a spatula and arrange in a single layer inside the air fryer
  • Coat the latkes briefly with cooking spray and let them to air fry for eight minutes. Give them another coat of cooking spray after flipping them over, and cook for an additional 4 minutes, or until they are crisp and golden brown.
  • Serve with apple sauce and sour cream, garnished with some freshly chopped chives.

Tips

  • Grater should be used: Grate the potatoes and onions finely to guarantee even cooking. A box grater or food processor with a grating attachment is a handy item. I use a box grater with large holes for the potatoes.
  • Prepare the air fryer:If your air fryer does not have a preheat option, let it run for approximately five minutes before adding the latkes.
  • Avoid using excessive amounts of oil. Even though the air fryer uses less oil than traditional frying, the latkes should still be lightly coated or drizzled with oil before cooking. This will contribute to their transformation into crispy and golden. Don’t fill the air fryer basket to the brim.
  • When placing the latkes in the air fryer basket, make sure they are arranged in single layer without overlapping.
  • Overcrowding will cause the latkes to steam rather than crisp.
  • Keep them heated in the oven:After cooking, the latkes can be reheated at 200°F while you finish assembling the other ingredients.
