3-Ingredient Low-Calorie Mousse (No Sugar!)
A soft, cloud-like dessert that melts in your mouth. With only three simple ingredients, this mousse is naturally sweet, low in calories, and perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth without any guilt.
Ingredients
- 2 large ripe mangoes (or 2 cups of chopped mango pulp – you can also use papaya or any naturally sweet fruit)
- 200 g plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened)
- 2 eggs (separated into yolks and whites)
(Optional: a few drops of vanilla extract or a pinch of turmeric for brighter color if your fruit is pale)
Instructions
- Prepare fruit – Peel and chop mangoes. Blend into a smooth puree.
- Mix base – In a bowl, whisk the fruit puree with yogurt until creamy.
- Beat egg whites – In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form (this makes the mousse airy).
- Combine – Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the fruit-yogurt mixture. Do not overmix.
- Set – Pour into serving glasses, smooth the tops, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until firm.
- Serve – Enjoy chilled, straight from the glass!
Notes
- Fresh ripe mango gives the best natural sweetness.
- If your fruit isn’t very sweet, you may add a teaspoon of honey or stevia (still sugar-free friendly).
- Make sure egg whites are beaten well, or the mousse won’t set fluffy.
- Can also be frozen for 1–2 hours for a firmer, ice-cream-like treat.
Tips
- For a vegetarian/egg-free version: replace eggs with 1 cup whipped cream or aquafaba (chickpea water, whipped).
- Serve with fresh fruit chunks or mint leaves for presentation.
- If using canned fruit, make sure it’s unsweetened.
Servings
- Makes about 4 servings (in small cups or glasses).
