Nothing beats my nana’s Ambrosia Salad Nana make it the best

A traditional Nothing beats my nana’s Ambrosia Salad Nana make it the best, American dessert, ambrosia salad has been served on tables for many generations, usually during holiday parties or joyous family get-togethers. The word “ambrosia” means “food of the gods” in Greek mythology, suggesting that this dish is a delectable confection appropriate for heavenly creatures. Ambrosia salad is thought to have Southern beginnings and gained popularity in the United States in the late 19th century, despite its precise origins being rather obscure. This creamy, fruity mixture usually contains small marshmallows, coconut, and a variety of canned or fresh fruits, all of which are held together by a sweet binder like yoghurt, sour cream, or whipped topping.

    The prep time: Ten minutes.
    Overall Time: Ten minutes

    Recipe By: Georgia Lynn

This salad is excellent either as a light dessert or as a sweet side dish to go with a variety of main courses, especially at barbecues or potlucks. It is a cool contrast to hearty meals like creamy casseroles or grilled meats. Some people like to eat it as part of a brunch feast, where it goes well with pastries and egg dishes. A modern and health-conscious variation of Ambrosia Salad is sometimes served with a mixed greens salad. To make this adaptable meal look more beautiful during banquets or gatherings, it can also be served in individual serving glasses.

    Ingredients For Ambrosia Salad:

    • 1 cup of drained canned pineapple chunks
    • One cup of drained canned mandarin oranges
    • One cup of halved and stemmed maraschino cherries
    • One cup of shredded coconut with sugar
    • One cup of little marshmallows
    • 1/2 cup (optional) chopped pecans or walnuts
    • One cup of whipped topping (such as Cool Whip) or sour cream

    Instructions For Ambrosia Salad:

    1.  Put the maraschino cherries, mandarin oranges, and pineapple chunks into a sizable mixing bowl. Toss to combine the fruits gently.
    2. Fill the bowl with the small marshmallows and the crushed coconut. Now is the time to fold in the nuts, if you have chosen to use them.
    3. Depending on your desire, spoon in the whipped topping or sour cream. Fold in the mixture until all the ingredients are fully combined and the creamy element coats the fruit evenly.
    4. Before serving, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill the salad for at least one hour. The flavours combine during this chilling period, and the marshmallows soften a little.
    5. Gently toss the Ambrosia Salad before serving.

    • Simple Ingredients: Requires just a few basic ingredients and can be whipped up in no time.

Ingredients Notes For Cheesy Zucchini Tots:

    • Zucchini: Fresh zucchini should be grated and then squeezed dry to remove excess moisture, which ensures the tots hold together and get crispy.
    • Cheese: Sharp cheddar or Parmesan works well for a rich flavor, but you can use any cheese you like.
    • Breadcrumbs: Help bind the ingredients and add a bit of crunch. Use panko for an even lighter texture.
    • Eggs: Act as a binder to hold all the ingredients together.
    • Garlic Powder and Onion Powder: Enhance the flavor without overpowering the delicate taste of the zucchini.
    • Salt and Pepper: For seasoning. Be mindful of the salt if using Parmesan, as it is already quite salty.

    Recipe Steps:

    1. Prepare the Zucchini:
      • Grate the zucchini using the large holes of a box grater. Place the grated zucchini in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
    2. Mix Ingredients:
      • In a large bowl, combine the drained zucchini, beaten eggs, breadcrumbs, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
    3. Shape the Tots:
      • Scoop a tablespoon of the zucchini mixture and shape it into small cylinders or tot shapes.
    4. Cook:
      • For baking, place the tots on a greased baking sheet and bake in a preheated 400°F (200°C) oven for 18-22 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.
      • For air frying, spray the tots lightly with cooking oil and air fry at 400°F for about 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until crispy.
    5. Serve:
      • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara, ranch dressing, or a yogurt-based dip.

    Storage Options:

    • Refrigerate: Store leftover tots in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
    • Freeze: Freeze the shaped, uncooked tots on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag and keep frozen for up to 2 months. Cook from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.

    INGREDIENTS

    • 2 medium zucchinis
    • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
    • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (use panko for extra crispiness)

    • 1 large egg
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

    2. Prepare the Zucchini:

Let’s dive into the steps to prepare a juicy and flavorful ribeye steak that will impress your taste buds and anyone you serve.

    Ingredients:

    •  1 ribeye steak (1 to 1.5 inches thick)
    •  Salt and pepper to taste
    •  2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
    •  2-3 cloves garlic, smashed
    •  2-3 sprigs fresh thyme or rosemary
    •  2 tablespoons butter

    Instructions:

    Prepare the Steak:

    1. Season: Generously season both sides of the ribeye steak with salt and pepper. Let the steak sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to ensure even cooking.

    Cook the Steak:

    1. Heat the Pan: Place a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over high heat. Add the olive oil and heat until it just begins to smoke.
    2. Sear the Steak: Carefully place the steak in the hot pan. Sear for 2-3 minutes on each side to develop a golden-brown crust. Avoid moving the steak around to ensure a good sear.
    3. Add Aromatics: Add the smashed garlic and fresh thyme or rosemary to the pan. Then add the butter and let it melt.
    4. Baste the Steak: Tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to baste the steak with the melted butter and aromatics. Continue basting for about 1-2 minutes for each side, depending on your preferred level of doneness:

    •  For medium-rare: Cook until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C).
    •  For medium: Cook until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).

    Rest the Steak:

    1. Rest: Remove the steak from the pan and place it on a cutting board. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

    Serve:

    1. Slice and Serve: Slice the ribeye steak against the grain into thick slices. Serve immediately, and enjoy with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.

    Tips for Perfect Ribeye Steak:

    • Quality Meat: Choose a well-marbled ribeye steak for the best flavor and juiciness.
    • Proper Seasoning: Don’t skimp on the salt and pepper; they enhance the steak’s natural flavors.
    • Resting: Allowing the steak to rest is crucial for juicy, flavorful meat.
    • Aromatics: Fresh herbs and garlic add an extra layer of flavor when basting the steak.

    In Summary:

A juicy and flavorful ribeye steak is a simple yet indulgent meal that’s perfect for any occasion. By following these steps, you’ll achieve a beautifully seared crust, a tender interior, and rich, savory flavors. Whether it’s a special dinner or a treat for yourself, this ribeye steak recipe will satisfy your steak cravings and leave you wanting more. Enjoy!
